Drowned are a band from Brazil that plays a mixture of death and thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2006 ep "By The Evil Alive".
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast riffs that combine death and thrash metal together with a great amount of melody being thrown into the riffing, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding death/thrash guitar solos and leads.
Vocals range from death/thrash style growls, deep death metal growls and a small amount of clean singing, while the lyrics cover violence, war, anti religion and everyday themes, as for the production it was recorded live and has a very strong, powerful and heavy sound to it.
In my opinion Drowned are a very great sounding death/thrash metal hybrid and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Back From Hell" and "Butchery Age Has Come". RECOMMENDED BUY.
