Azooma are a band from Iran that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very brutal, technical and progressive form of death metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "The Act Of Eye" which was released by Xtreem Music.
Clean yet distorted guitar playing starts off the album before going into a heavier direction as well as adding death metal growls onto the recording and when the music speeds up a great amount of brutal blast beats can be heard and the solos and leads are done in a very technical fashion while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording.
At times the riffs bring in a decent amount of melody and the songs also mix in a great amlunt of progressive elements and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and atmospheric synths can also be heard at times while a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Some of the riffs and leads also bring in a decent amount of melody and when acoustic guitars are utilized they bring in a touch of Middle Eastern music while also getting more diverse on the later tracks and there is also a brief use of clean singing and whispers on some of the tracks and on one song the keyboards add in some symphonic and prog rock touches and the songs also bring in a great amount of diversity and they also close the album with an instrumental track which also introduces stringed instruments onto the recording.
Azooma creates a recording that takes their brutal and technical style of death metal into a more progressive direction as well as making the music a lot more original and diverse, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and philosophical themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Azooma and if you are a fan of progressive death metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Umbra Of Mirth" "Non-Entity Of Visions" and "Objectivity Of Oblivion". 8/5 out of 10.
